NEW PRODUCT ALERT!!
I have been looking for a new product for my hair because I was using TGI Curl Amplifier which is about $20 for 5oz of product.
It works wonderfully but it’s a little too expensive so I decided to try out another product I saw in Target.
This is first day hair, I am still playing with my routine but for now it is ok. It is a little frizzy for my liking but I will figure it out!
It’s a work in progress!
Today I bite the bullet and straighten my hair!
Yes an hour and a half later my hair is kinda straight but not without frizz, but so is life.
Overall I feel it’s a nice change from having my hair curly but I will probably be missing my curly hair in a few hours! :)
I guess that’s the true problem for a natural girl, you like your NATURAL hair better than any other style someone suggests or wants you to have.
Curly hair rules!
Even when it’s straight, or wavy or in a ponytail!
Enjoy your hair,I know I do!
Seven days of natural styles
Day 5- I call this on Follow me if you want to braid!
Like I said yesterday its HOT HOT HOT where I live and so having protective styles is perfect for this weather!
I did this look by taking 2 small braids on either side of my head and pinning them to the other side, creating a crown effect , and fishtail braided the rest of my hair!
Its a really easy look to achieve. Its easy to do, keeps your hair out of your face and you get to look fly without any effort.
(**fly? who even am I? lol)
So ladies enjoy you hair and try this style out! ;)
Seven days of natural styles
It’s HOTT, with 2 t’s where I live so I have really been loving wearing my hair up!
Here is another easy style I whipped up and did a zig zag part because I wanted to kick it old school!
Just 2 French braids back and a simple bun make is look.
Have fun doing you own hair! ;)
Seven days of natural styles!
Today I just did a remix of the previous days hair!
Half French braids, half bun… All easy.
Using the French braids from the day before , take out half the braid and pull all the hair back into a ponytail
Use bobby pins to pin the hair in the ponytail up to make a bun and your done!
SEVEN DAYS OF PROTECTIVE STYLES…
As promised I will be posting protective styles that I am using to help my hair retain its length and grow healthy and strong.
Protective styles are any hairstyles that the ends of your hair or wrapped or protected from rubbing, helping stop breakage.
This is the first of my series of protective styles,a simple fishtail braid.
Step 1: I started with freshly washed hair and twisted back my shorted layers pinning them in place.
Step 2: push all the hair to the side and separate into two parts
Step 3: pulling a little piece of hair from one part of your hair to the other, repeating to until you get to the end of your hair, creating the fishtail braid look.
Step 4: apply a moisturizing agent, coconut oil or conditioner, to the ends of your hair and as you tie up your braid be sure to tuck the ends of you hair into the hairtie.
Step 5: enjoy you hair!!
My hair chronicles!
I have naturally curly hair, as one might guess from my pictures, and although I get compliments about it, it was a process to get it to where it is now.
I have always had long, thick hair and what my mother loved to call a tender scalp, meaning she could just pull on my hair or it would hurt!
I recently was asked about my hair by a concerned mother of a mixed race daughter, half Jamaican and half italian. The Italian mother seemed really concerned about her daughters hair and said that she had tried everything from salon products to mayonnaise treatments to make the hair “lay down”. She also informed me that her daughter was 12 years old.
My first thought was that poor kid! I remember having now choice when it came to my hair. Having it permed and trying to make it really “lay down” used to be my ultimate goal too.
But no more!
So I tried to explain to the mother my basic steps of how to style, maintain and care for my curly hair.
And I realized that the information I have should be shared!
I will post some tips that I have separately! From cutting to protective styles I got you!
It’s summer and I have decided to get a job away from home and stay in the town where I go to university.
I’m not alone, I am staying with my awesome roommate Kirsten , who also blogs and vlogs! http://m.youtube.com/results?q=youspo&search_sort=relevance&search_type=search_all&uploaded=&oq=youspo&gs_l=youtube-reduced.3…8692.11104.0.122184.108.40.206.220.127.116.111.845.3j2j0j1.6.0…0.0…1ac.1.5.youtube-reduced.wDDEh4Z9D2M#/watch?v=7-FtRpUlnlw
In any event we have been trying to be as adventurous as we can with little money and a sleepy old town.
This project is called the #summerofyes
It’s the summer to really push myself out of my comfort zone.
First on the agenda was to get a job, which I solved by getting a job at a the local Starbucks inside a target. Now the cool thing about the target is that is a completely new store, in fact It hasn’t even opened yet!
So I have had the experience of learning an entirely new business from the ground up.
Setting up POGs and shelves and putting out product for the last 3 weeks.
I have also been cutting back on dieting and really trying to appreciate my body for what it is.
I am still exercising, going to Zumba or yoga, but constantly dieting had left me exhausting and really hating my body.
Now that I have stopped I feel more comfortable, beautiful and more me than I have felt in a very long time!
I which is so damn refreshing!
The problem with constant dieting is that you are constantly valuing, judging and devaluing yourself, we’ll NO MORE!
I just want to be happy and not being so hard on myself has helped me realize I am so much happier with out dieting.
I am beautiful, intelligent, funny, talented, hard working and no amount of dieting would have made me better!
